The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 |
Born in 1964, the Mustang launched a whole new category of cars with its launch, the pony car category and since has always been a force to be reckoned with both in terms of sales figure and performance, but the baddest of all the mustangs, the Shelby GT500, the most powerful production Mustang debuted in 1967 and changed the muscle/pony car world forever.
My name is Caroll Shelby and performace is my buisness
The above words by the legend himself, Mr. Caroll Shelby more than signifies Shelby's philosophy. The first Shelby GT500 was launched in 1967 and was a monster for the streets, it was powered by a 7.0 L V8 that pushed 360 hp and 570 Nm of torque. The Shelby GT500 was the most powerful Mustang at its launch but was essentially a one-trick pony, it was only meant for straight-line speeds not for cornering or racetracks.
Come 2020 and the Shelby GT500 nameplate was revived once again but this time, it was not just meant to be a straight-line behemoth, it was in fact built to be the fastest Mustang both in a straight line and around corners.

The best part of the new Shelby GT500 is that it is not only a drag strip monster like its predecessors but is, in fact, a track weapon, even faster than the Shelby GT350R. The Shelby GT500 packs numerous track-oriented upgrades like an adjustable wing at the rear to maximize downforce, front splitter, lightweight chassis, hood vents to make it stand out from the entire Mustang stable.
